The town is one of the unseen hamlets of Himachal Tourism. Hamirpur is an area situated at the lower elevation of Himachal and comparatively warmer but has natural beauty and cultural innocence. The district was named in the name of ruler Hamir Chand. The district was found in 1972 by carving out from the Kangra district. It is well connected by roads from all major cities and towns and has tourist destination which had good significance in the history of the state and also has religious places. This is a culturally charming city which is tinted with magnificent temples, which draw the attention of people from across the country. Hamirpur is situated on the Shimla-Dharamshala Highway.

NIT: Hamirpur is the most literate district of Himachal Pradesh and even one of the top literate district in the country with the literacy rate of more than 95%. Hamirpur is also famous as educational hub in the state. National Institute of Technology is also situated in this district is at 2Km on the top of Hamirpur town. NIT was founded in 1986.
Nadaun: The town became famous when the Kangra rulers shifted his Capital here from Kangra port after losing to Jahangir’s Army. It is also situated on the bank of Beas River. It is developed and peaceful town with a good Rest House to stay and with old Shiva temple. Another thing of attraction is the river rafting from this place to Dehra.
Deotsidh Temple: The cave temple of Baba Balak Nath is famous in the region as well as across the state. The temple is thronged by devotees all the year round. It is situated at the Hamirpur-Bilaspur border. During Navratras, hundreds of devotees each day continuous visit place to receive blessings of the Baba. The government made arrangements for food, stay and other essential services.
Sujanpur Tihra: This is not the Holy place but it is Holi place. The Holi Fair is famous across the state. This place had been the capital of Katoch Dynasty. It has an old fort which has its own significance in the history, a lot of battles were fought to capture this fort. It has a huge ground, where the annual Holi fair celebrated and now these days this ground becomes a place political rallies and Sainik school is also located here. This place is suitable for adventure sports like Paragliding, Angling, Rafting and trekking in and around this area and also other sports activities in its large ground.
